Having a comparatively short shelf life, fish is only ever at it's best, for flavour and texture, when it's really fresh. As such it is essential that fish be kept at optimum temperatures, between 0-5 (C) in a fridge and below -18 (C) in a freezer.
KOOLTRAK Solution
As the storage of fish is temperature critical Martin's Seafresh recognised the value of the KOOLTRAK system. They have KOOLTRAK temperature loggers located in their freezers, fridges and cold rooms. On a weekly basis the loggers are read and the data is presented via graphs and reports.
In addition Martin's Seafresh also used the loggers in a trial to monitor the temperature of the fish in transit. They selected 3 of their most valued clients to take part in this trial. A logger was included in the fish they ordered, which monitored the temperature as it was being delivered. Once it was delivered (to London, Birmingham and Scotland) the customers sent their loggers back to Martin's Seafresh. Then the loggers were read and the temperature checked. On all three deliveries the temperature was as it should be and Martin's Seafresh could provide proof of the quality of service they provide.
